14-story, 350,000 sq. ft. Office and R&D Complex VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Agio International has officially moved into a new 350,000 sq. ft. office and showroom complex in Shunde, Guangdong Province. The new building will support more than 300 people who will work in the building on a daily basis, as well as provide temporary office space for Agio executives, salespersons, and designers working on-site during extended business trips from the United States.
“As we continue to expand our specialty base, we need to continually invest in research and development,” said Bob Gaylord, President of Agio International. “We also need the office facilities to house the corporate infrastructure to meet the needs of our growing consumer base.” The Shunde facility consolidates Agio’s extensive Far East business administration, accounting functions and design showrooms from the company’s other locations in the same area, according to Gaylord. “It also gives our customers who come to China the opportunity to see an array of new products and future concepts all in one building,” he said. The new, multi-use facility is designed to house 65,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art showrooms over three floors, and another 285,000 sq. ft. space is dedicated for research and development and workshops. Agio will retain an existing 335,000 sq. ft. factory building across the street from the new offices. Agio does not currently warehouse any products in the United States but it does warehouse most of the components covered by company warranties. The company’s new USA headquarters in Virginia Beach, Va., was finished in December 2005. “Agio’s success has always come from identifying consumer trends, producing innovative designs and delivering a stylish and quality product to our retailers,” according to Gaylord. “Our need for this Chinese facility reflects the continued desirability of Agio products from both the specialty and mass merchant channels,” stated Gaylord.
